Audi is continuing its model campaign. “The Audi Q5 has represented the success of Audi for more than 15 years,” says CEO Gernot Döllner. “With the third generation of our most successful SUV, we will now begin rejuvenating our SUV portfolio with efficient combustion engine models and hybrid versions.” Audi will launch more than 20 new models in 2024 and 2025 – over 10 of them electric. This year, the new electric models commenced with the Audi Q6 e-tron in the spring and the Audi A6 e-tron in late July. At the same time, the company is rejuvenating its portfolio with combustion engine models like the A5 family unveiled in July. Audi’s Q8 e-tron models are about to become even more sporty and dynamic: The S line competition exterior package enhances the electric luxury models’ dynamics and emphasizes the Q8 family’s sporty character. The package includes specific body components such as a widened body (similar to the S model), a body-color Singleframe, and exclusive 21-inch five-spoke black wheels. Painted brake calipers with the S logo, a host of carbon-fiber details, and an edition-specific door LED projection add further striking accents. The carbon add-on parts are also available for the Audi SQ8 e-tron family as part of the new Carbon Style package.
Like its predecessor, the Audi e-tron, the Audi Q8 e-tron is a pioneer of German premium electric mobility. To make the customization options for the successful electric full-size SUV even more attractive, Audi is offering the Audi Q8 e-tron with a new, sportier exterior package as part of the model upgrade for the 2025 model year. The S line competition exterior package for the Audi Q8 e-tron is based on the substantially wider body of the S models, which gives the Audi Q8 e-tron models significantly more presence and dynamics. The S line competition exterior further sharpens the models: As a distinctive detail, the package includes an exclusive body-color Singleframe that gives the car greater individuality and character. Exclusive 21-inch light-alloy wheels The wheel design is another exclusive highlight of the S line competition exterior package: The 21-inch wheels in a five-spoke design come in black and emphasize the sporty and individual appearance of the Audi Q8 e-tron*.
The fluid combination of bends that follows is pure joy: their sometimes challenging profile makes the roads between Bilbao and San Sebastián ideal for experiencing the character of the new Audi Q6 e-tron. The agility of the electric SUV, due in part to the precise and sporty steering and the harmonious power delivery of the electric motors, comes into its own on the roads in northern Spain. The suspension, tuned in line with the Audi DNA, offers comfort but also conveys a sporty dynamism – especially in the Audi SQ6 e-tron. The diverse routes with their differences in altitude and going through towns enable drivers to experience the high recuperation power of up to 220 kW in an impressive way. Just like the sophisticated thermal management system, this contributes significantly to the efficiency of the first model on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE).
Optimized driving dynamics The kinematically refined axles of the Audi Q6 e-tron provide true driving dynamics. The result: noticeably more agility and improved steering behavior. The completely redesigned front axle has a significant influence on the driving dynamics. For the first time in an Audi, the control arms are arranged in front of the suspension arms. The steering is now rigidly bolted to the subframe. In conjunction with the new front axle, new software modules provide the driver with significantly improved feedback on the current driving and road conditions at all times via the steering wheel and support the agility of the vehicle.

Audi is adding an interesting entry-level variant to the Q4 e-tron series: the multifaceted Audi Q4 35 e-tron costs 45,600 euros, and the Sportback with an elegant rear is 47,600 euros. The all-electric premium model includes comprehensive equipment as standard, offers a range of up to 355 kilometers (Sportback: 365 kilometers), and a DC charging capacity of 145 kW. New in the Q4 e-tron: an integrated app store enables direct access to popular third-party apps such as Spotify or Audible without using a smartphone. The Q4 35 e-tron will be available to order from July this year.

New vehicles such as the Q6 e-tron and future models with the E3 1.2 electronics architecture will receive ChatGPT via Cerence Chat Pro as an extension of the Audi assistant.
The integration of ChatGPT into the online voice input of models with MIB 3 starting from the 2021 model year, such as the Audi A3 for example, and later offers numerous possibilities that go beyond what was previously possible with voice control. Audi drivers can use enhanced voice control to operate the infotainment, navigation, and AC systems or, from now on, to ask general knowledge questions. The ability to ask for information using natural language makes driving safer, as the driver never has to take their eyes off the road. ChatGPT is made available through Azure OpenAI Service. Foundation of this new feature for Audi customers is the Chat Pro solution from Cerence Inc., which offers an automotive-grade ChatGPT integration. “With the seamless integration of ChatGPT into our voice control, we are combining the strengths of both applications,” says Marcus Keith, Vice President of Interior, Infotainment, and Connectivity Development at Audi. “In addition to a range of voice-controlled functions, our customers will now benefit from simple and secure access to AI-based knowledge. This is the next step towards a best-in-class in-cabin experience in Audi vehicles.” Vehicles answer everyday questions Audi has enhanced its existing self-learning voice assistant, the Audi assistant, in models with the new E3 1.2 electronics architecture, which celebrated its premiere in the new Audi Q6 e-tron.

Audi is announcing a further, particularly efficient drive variant for the new Audi Q6 e-tron ahead of the official market launch in August. With rear-wheel drive and a newly developed lithium-ion battery with a total gross capacity of 100 kWh (94.9 kWh net), the Audi Q6 e-tron performance has a range of up to 641 kilometers (according to the WLTP global standard). This capability puts it at the top of the Q6 e-tron family. In addition, the scalable Premium Platform Electric (PPE) demonstrates its flexibility with the first purely rear-wheel drive variant. The new Audi Q6 SUVe-tron performance is now available to order from 68,800 EUR.
In total, the efficiency measures around the new electric motors for the PPE enable 40 kilometers of extra range compared to the first-generation Audi e-tron. In the area of production, the degree of automation and the vertical range of manufacture have increased significantly. The new electric motors for the PPE require about 30 percent less installation space than those of previous electric models. Their weight has been reduced by about 20 percent. The PSM (permanent magnet synchronous motor) on the rear axle of the Audi Q6 e-tron series has a length of 200 millimeters. The ASM (asynchronous motor) on the front axle has a length of 100 millimeters. When not in use, it is able to rotate freely without significant drag losses. The new hairpin winding and a direct oil-spray cooling system in the electric motor's stator contribute substantially to the drive system's higher efficiency. For example, the fill factor has increased to 60 percent compared to 45 percent for the conventional windings that were used previously. An electric oil pump in the transmission also contributes to the increased efficiency. Thanks to the rotor oil cooling, Audi was also able to largely dispense with the use of heavy rare earth elements while simultaneously increasing the power density by 20 percent. What has Audi changed in the power electronics and the transmission for the PPE? The power electronics (inverter) controls the electric motor and also converts direct current from the battery into alternating current. The data for the exact control of the inverter is provided by the domain computer HCP1 (high-performance computing platform 1), which is responsible for the drive system and the suspension. Silicon carbide semiconductors are installed in the more powerful version of the water-cooled inverter. Due to their efficiency, which is 60 percent higher, they particularly excel under partial load and are more reliable.
