Rally World Champ Carlos Sainz in Audi A4 DTM

DTM fans can look forward to a double-debut this coming weekend: The most popular international touring car race series rolls-out in Spain for the first time in its history. And Volkswagen factory driver Carlos Sainz will drive a DTM race car for the first time: The two-time Rally World Champion chauffeurs VIP guests in the 460 hp Audi A4 DTM race taxi around the circuit at Barcelona on Saturday from 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.
Carlos Sainz, with 26 victories and World Championship title wins in 1990 and 1992 to his name, is not only one of the most successful rally drivers of all time – the 44-year old is one of the most popular sportsmen in Spain and a huge star for many in his homeland. “El Matador” is factory driver for Volkswagen in Cross Country Rallying since June 2005, this year he made his début at the renowned Dakar Rally with the Volkswagen Race Touareg 2.
The rally star uses the DTM’s first foray to Spain appearance to reel of some laps in a DTM car. Factory driver Mattias Ekström takes time off from his regular duties to explain the Audi A4 DTM controls to Sainz. The 2004 DTM Champion adores competing in rallies and scored a World Championship point for Skoda in August at the German WRC round.
