Audi Summer Concerts: last-minute program changes and an additional concert
- "Wonder pianist" Tsotne Zedginidze with the world premiere of an original composition reflecting the Ukraine war
- Solidarity concert with the "INSO Lviv" from the Ukrainian city of Lviv
"Visions of the Future" is the motto of this year's Audi Summer Concerts from June 30 to July 10, which are taking place under several special conditions. For one thing, they are with a live audience for the first time since the pandemic began. They are also responding to the current world situation with last-minute program changes and additions.
"Especially now, when a war threatens our European values, we need art and culture more than ever!" With these words, Lisa Batiashvili, Artistic Director of the Audi Summer Concerts, invites visitors to this year's classical music event. When the violinist opens the cultural event on June 30 in Klenzepark, she will point to program highlights that respond to the current threat to freedom and democracy with the language of music.
This will be the case at the second Audi Klassik Open Air in Klenzepark on July 1. That evening, the young Georgian "wonder pianist" Tsotne Zedginidze will have a big stage with the Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt. However, he will not be performing a work by Alfred Schnittke, as originally planned, but a piano concerto composed by himself under the impressions of the Ukraine war.
A concert with an ensemble from Ukraine has been added to the program: on July 6, the International Symphony Orchestra Lviv of the Lviv Philharmonic Society, or "INSO Lviv" for short, will give a solidarity concert to benefit the victims of the war in their homeland. The ensemble is based in historic Lviv, considered one of the most beautiful cities in Ukraine. The orchestra, founded in 1998, will perform in the Ingolstadt City Theater’s festival hall.Tickets for the additional concert are available now at www.sommerkonzerte.de.
Conductor and pianist Daniel Barenboim, on the other hand, unfortunately, must cancel his appearance at the Audi Summer Concerts 2022. The musician, who recently fell ill, is on the road to recovery but, on his doctor’s advice, will not be performing as a pianist until the end of the current season. Unfortunately, the planned duo recital with Lisa Batiashvili on July 3 is now canceled without replacement. Details on how to return tickets can be found at www.sommerkonzerte.de -> Your concert visit/tickets.
