September 3, 1949, is a significant date in the history of Audi. On this day, Auto Union GmbH was founded in Ingolstadt. The MG barracks were built in 1910 across the street from today’s Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt. In mid-1952, Auto Union expanded the so-called “banana lot” to the southeast and took over the former barracks. In addition to the finance and purchasing departments, technical and commercial plant management moved in here.
