September 3, 1949, is an important date in Audi’s history. On this day, Auto Union GmbH was founded in Ingolstadt. The main administrative offices, and thus the young company’s headquarters, were set up in Schrannenstrasse. Behind the administration building is Josef-Strobl-Platz - the former Provisioning Office. As early as 1946, it was used as a warehouse for spare parts, making it the heart of Ingolstadt’s nascent automotive industry.
