Audi Tradition - Anniversary Dates 2024
In autumn 1989, the engineers from Ingolstadt unveiled the Audi 100 with the 2.5-litre, five-cylinder TDI engine at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt. This saw Audi elevate the use of a diesel engine in a passenger car to a whole new level and sparked a true “diesel revolution”. Years 35 Audi Tradition 12 Anniversary Dates 2024 When Audi presented the Audi quattro with permanent all-wheel drive at the Geneva Motor Show in 1980, it triggered a wave of all-wheel-drive vehicles that revolutionised the world of international rallying from 1981 onwards. To maintain its edge over its rivals in the world of rallying for a longer period of time, from the summer of 1982 Audi in Ingolstadt developed a quattro with a shorter wheelbase and a dual overhead camshaft engine with four valves. The Audi Sport quattro, which was the basis for an uncompromising Group B rally car, appeared at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September 1983. The “short quattro”, as it was often lovingly referred to, was brimming with high-performance technology. Its 225 kW/306 hp made it the most power ful German production car of its day. The body of the Sport quattro consisted, alongside a supportive metal frame, largely of composite materials and, due to the small number of units, it was made at the bodywork company Baur in Stuttgart. The corresponding plastic body parts were supplied by the Swiss company Seger + Hoffmann. The 200 Sport quattro units that were required for homologation were completed on 26 April 1984. As sales to private individuals only really took place after this, the cars had been built in advance. For this purpose, four colours were chosen: Tornado Red, Copenhagen Blue, Malachite Green and Alpine White. There’s always an exception to every rule: Two Sport quattro were delivered painted black.

The Audi Group has set itself the goal of achieving net carbon neutrality² by no later than 2050. ¹ Audi plants in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm (Germany), Brussels (Belgium), Győr (Hungary), San José Chiapa (Mexico). ² Audi regards net carbon neutrality as a state in which, following the exhaustion of other possible measures aimed at reducing the still remaining CO₂ emissions caused by the products or activities of Audi and/or currently unavoidable CO₂ emissions within the scope of the supply chain, manufacturing and recycling of Audi vehicles, at least quantitative compensation is provided through voluntary and globally conducted compensation projects.

In addition, the environmental declaration provides information on current developments. Environmental Declaration 2023 Environmental Declaration 2023 4 Environmental Declaration 2023 5 Content Dear Readers, This declaration contains a lot of good developments in a nutshell: In our Environmental Declaration 2023, we have summarized our environmental protection activities at the sites and demonstrate that we are doing everything in our power to make our operations more sustainable and environmentally friendly in line with our Audi strategy. The last year was extremely challenging. The effects of climate change are becoming increasingly obvious and require prompt innovative solutions to reduce or avoid the use of fossil energy sources. Additionally, the war in Ukraine disrupted the supply security of important resources over night and massively increased the prices of all processes and materials along the value chain. As a leading car maker, we are aware of our responsibility and do our best to minimize the effects of our vehicles and production on the environment and decrease the use of resources continuously. Even in these challenging times, Audi is holding on to the goal of achieving net carbon-neutral production* at all its own sites, and thus also at the Ingolstadt site, by 2025. The Mission:Zero environmental program that was initiated for this purpose paves the way toward more sustainable production and logistics.

By 1996, the production capacity had doubled to 1,500 units a day; in 1998 Audi Hungaria joined forces with the factory in Ingolstadt to assemble the Audi TT. The decision was made in 2010 to expand the Győr factory into a site offering full automotive production. In 2021, 11,983 employees produced over 170,000 automobiles and more than 1.6 million diesel, petrol and electronic powertrains there. Foundation of Audi Hungaria Motor Kft.30 years Audi Tradition 7 Anniversary Dates 2023 In October 1988, AUDI AG unveiled the Audi V8, which represented the company’s first foray into the premium segment. The eight-cylinder Audi model was initially powered by a 184 kW (250 hp) 3.6 litre lightalloy engine and impressed with an array of innovative engineering features such as permanent all-wheel drive, four-valve technology and a four-speed, electronically controlled automatic gearbox. More than half a century earlier, the Auto Union brand Horch had previously offered a V8-cylinder engine. The decision was made at Horch in 1932 to develop a “small” V8 Horch that could be offered to discerning premium buyers. Preliminary work on designing a three-litre engine that would produce 62 hp had begun under the former chief engine designer Fritz Fiedler. His successor Werner Strobel made the V8 ready for production. The engine with a 66 degree cylinder angle was first presented in the Horch 830 at the Berlin Motor Show in 1933. The V8 underwent four stages of evolution until the war caused passenger car manufacturing to be stopped, and in its final version the 3.8 litre engine produced 92 hp. Audi Report 2021
All the CO₂ emissions that cannot be prevented in the supply chain and in the production of the Audi Q4 e-tron, despite the measures that have now been implemented, are offset through climate protection projects before dealerships in Europe and the United States hand over the vehicles to customers. metric tons of CO₂ are prevented at the Audi sites in Ingolstadt, Neckarsulm, Győr and the multi-brand site in Bratislava thanks to a closed-loop aluminum process that Audi has been using since 2017. This process was introduced at the Hungarian plant in Győr in 2021. The reduction in CO 2 was achieved by collecting aluminum waste during the production process and returning it to the supplier. It is then used to produce new aluminum coils of the same quality that Audi then reintroduces into the production process. This closed material loop reduces primary aluminum consumption. Thanks to the reprocessing of aluminum waste collected during production without any loss of quality, cars produced at the Ingolstadt, Neckarsulm, Győr and Bratislava sites start their life cycle with a far better carbon, energy and raw material profile than cars manufactured exclusively from primary aluminum. 195,000 A net total of more than is the binary code for the word Audi. And code plays an increasingly important role in the development of every vehicle. After all, cars are increasingly becoming mobile devices. Audi is shifting its first-class design and workmanship quality to the digital world and thus advancing the concept of vehicle security. The aim is to protect vehicles and therefore customers, as well as the company itself, consistently from unauthorized access and attacks. In summer 2021, the two management systems for cybersecurity and software updates were successfully certified by the technical service ATEEL. Audi therefore fulfilled the two new UNECE directives relating to the management system at an early stage.
