The best-selling electric car of the four Rings is becoming more attractive - thanks to an even broader model range. With the Q4 35 e-tron, Audi is making it easier to enter the all-electric premium compact segment.
Schönfelder: With the Q4e-tron, the driving aids are actually available from the factory. Changing from a gasoline engine to an electric model was a big adjustment for me. But I was curious and have never regretted it. You have to plan a little more before undertaking longer journeys. I find the e-tron route planner very useful here, especially for getting to the Audi charging hub or IONITY, where I can charge in comfort. Then I have a relaxing drive, particularly as I start out earlier due to the charging stops, and reach my destination in a calm frame of mind. In this way, I almost always have time to spare. While the car is charging, I can drink a coffee – out of a proper cup to boot. As I drink, I work on my laptop. I’ve now clocked up 50,000 kilometers. With my new Q4e-tron, I can even charge at a rate of up to 175 kW, which makes charging times at fast-charging stations even shorter. Herrmann: Storage space is very important for me. After all, I have to take my wheelchair wherever I go. The accessibility features at the Audi charging hub would definitely make my life easier. When I go to the gas station today, I look for somebody to go with me because of my personal needs. Moreover, with an electric model, I could charge my car at my workplace. I think it’s important for cities and municipalities, as well as for manufacturers and operators, to implement our requirements regarding accessibility. Schönfelder: Agreed. Just like Audi is. Charging at the Audi charging hub is not only fast but comfortable. I’ve been to the charging hub in Nuremberg, which has a 200-square-meter lounge, three times now. For me, the ability to charge my car there quickly and easily without barriers is a major argument in favor of e-mobility. When I’m on longer trips, I want to make use of HPC options. Furthermore, Audi's charging service offers a convenient way of charging your car quickly and inexpensively at various providers during a journey. Just hold out your card, and bingo!
The new Audi Q6 e‑tron is first in line: It is Audi’s first production model based on the PPE. Representing a new generation of Audi models, the Audi Q6 e‑tron sets new standards in efficiency, range, charging, and design. The E3 1.2 electronic architecture is updatable and upgradable; the operating concept has been completely redesigned. With it, Audi is taking the next steps on the road to the fully connected car. The Audi Q6 e‑tron is also the first fully electric model to be built in Ingolstadt. At the same time, Audi is driving the paradigm shift toward software-defined vehicles (SDVs), which focus on software-based solutions and the virtual customer experience. Together with CARIAD, the Volkswagen Group’s software unit, and the Volkswagen brand, Audi is initiating an SDV Hub to facilitate this shift. At the joint competence center, experts are working on the hardware, software, and electronic architecture for the next generation of electric cars. Revenue increased further Audi Group revenue reached €69,865 (2022: 61,753) million in fiscal year 2023. The 13.1 percent increase over the previous year is due in particular to solid sales performance, high demand, and the more stable supply situation. The fully electric Audi Q4e‑tron and Audi Q3, Audi Q5, and Audi Q7 series made a particularly significant contribution to this growth. The share of EU taxonomy-aligned revenue rose to 16.3 (2022: 13.5) percent.
Schönfelder is an arm amputee and drives a model from the Audi Q4e-tron series with driving aids fitted at the factory. In 2007, Audi became the first automaker to put driving aids in their configurator. “The whole package of fast-charging, comfort and convenience, and price is highly appealing,” adds Schönfelder. At HPC charging points, Audi customers pay from €0.35/kWh depending on their contract. Virtual tips and support Following tests in Berlin and Munich, a customer service concept is also being used for the first time in Frankfurt: Specially trained staff provide tips and assistance via camera. The support advisors can check the charging process remotely. If difficulties arise during authentication, they can point out the option of paying by credit card, for example. Audi also offers assistance with setting up Plug & Charge. The service can be accessed via a hotline. "An offer that was very well received during the test phase," says Nikolai Senst.
