Audi has made the hearts of many enthusiasts beat faster with editions such as the Decennium models celebrating ten years of the V10 engine, the rear-wheel-drive RWS, and the R8 GT. For racing, the Audi Sport customer racing division supplies the R8 LMS specified for the GT2, GT3, and GT4 categories. Audi TT RS: The Audi TT RS made its debut in 2009 as a coupe and roadster. Its 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine thrilled with emotional sound and 250 kW (340 hp) of power in the second generation. The third generation followed in 2016. All RS ranges of the compact sports car are united by the timeless design, which is reduced to the essentials without frills and focused on the driver. The combination of the purist design language and pure driving pleasure made the sporty Audi TT RS an automotive icon, just like the basic TT model before it. Nordschleife circuit: With its legendary Nordschleife, the Nürburgring is a fixture in the cosmos of vehicle development and testing at Audi Sport GmbH. As part of endurance testing, every new RS model is tested there for a good 8,000km on the asphalt of the over 20km-long undulating track of the “Green Hell” – this easily corresponds to the real-life stresses of an entire car’s life cycle on the road. Frank Stippler, a professional Audi Sport race driver and vehicle engineer, has long been significantly involved in the testing of the R and RS models in the Eifel.
On October 10, 1983, Audi Sport GmbH, as it is known now, was founded as quattro GmbH. Today, it shapes the sporty and exclusive image of the brand with the four rings. At Audi, the vehicles with the red rhombus stand for performance and sportiness.

Also in 2019, Audi Sport GmbH rounds off its R8 range: the Audi R8 V10 RWS, introduced in 2018 as a limited special model, became the R8 V10 RWD – an integral part of the series of high-performance sports cars with the four rings. The new design features, which are analogous to the R8 quattro versions of the production model, make the mid-engine car with rear-wheel drive look even wider, flatter and therefore even more dynamic. From 2021, Audi Sport GmbH has delivered the R8 V10 performance RWD as a coupe and as a Spyder. In 2022, the sporty Audi subsidiary added further special editions and models to its range: In addition, the Audi TT RS Coupé iconic edition, the Audi RS 3 performance edition, the Audi RS Q3 edition 10 years and the Audi R8 Coupé V10 GT RWD, as well as the Audi RS 6 and the Audi RS 7 as performance models, all became available.
These include the first-generation Audi R8 and RS 4 Avant, the current R8 GT and the RS 4 Avant with the competition package. Another highlight is the all-electric Audi S1 Hoonitron, with which the unforgettable Ken Block caused a stir on the streets of Las Vegas in the “Electrikhana” video. And shortly before the 24-hour race, spectators can admire high-performance models from the sporty Audi subsidiary in a motorcade along the famous track. Fans can also look forward to celebrations at the headquarters of Audi Sport GmbH in Neckarsulm. The anniversary exhibition of “40 years of Audi Sport GmbH – Fascination Meets Performance” will provide an almost complete overview of the history of Audi Sport GmbH from June 14: In addition to automotive highlights – from the first vehicle of the former quattro GmbH to various models from the customer racing program and the current product portfolio – there are also worthwhile exhibits from the Audi collection and vehicle customization to enjoy seeing at the Audi Forum Neckarsulm. The exhibition runs concurrently with the special exhibition of “150 Years of NSU: Innovation, Daring, Transformation” about the history of the traditional NSU brand. Finally, another highlight is coming up in the fall: To mark the birthday of Audi Sport GmbH, a rally for fans of the red rhombus is planned for October 14, heading to the Audi Forum Neckarsulm. Audi Sport GmbH is inviting visitors to a special day there.
